Dear Parents:  We have already made it through our first couple days of school. What an amazing time it has been! Overall, things have gone wonderfully. We have had so much fun getting to know one another. I am really looking forward to this incredible year. I feel truly blessed with another great group of kids. As I have said before, I will be sending home a monthly newsletter to keep you informed.

Classwork

Classwork

We will begin our Zoo Phonics curriculum that explores the entire alphabet. We will begin with the letter A and the rest of the vowels, and then we will add consonants and blends.  We will also begin exploring numbers through math centers. They will be working on their name as well. We teach them to write their name with a capital first letter and then lower case for the rest. We are getting them ready for Kindergarten so we do not teach them all capital letters.

Themes & Songs

Themes & Songs

Our theme for the month is:  All About Me and Apples (Johnny Appleseed’s birthday is this month)!  We will be starting Bible Time this week. This includes an Old Testament story for preschool and a New Testament story for Pre-k.  They are also memorizing a bible verse and learning songs. A lot of what we do in Preschool involves music and songs. If they are not already singing songs they have learned, ask them to share a favorite of theirs with you!

Discipline Policy

Discipline Policy

I wanted to keep the discipline policy as simple as possible so that the children can understand and work with it.  We do many things to reinforce positive behavior. However, we do want the children to know there are natural consequences for choices they make.  As you know, they put up an apple on the apple tree when they arrive at school. They also have green worms (clothespins) with their names on it.  First, they are given a verbal warning and the preschool will put a “reminder” worm at the bottom of the tree. Then, if they repeat the behavior they will place their worm on the middle of the tree and they will lose a few minutes of recess, pre-k will start with this.  After two chances, they will then have to move their worm to their apple and they will not receive candy at the end of class that day. This gives them three chances. However, the worm can be moved back off the apple for extra-good behavior, as well, before the closing activities for the day.  Each day they start fresh.

Reminders

* Show and tell is on every Thursday for pre-k am and Friday for all other classes!

* Remember to have the girls wear shorts under their dresses.

* Tuition is due at the beginning of the month. It is $120 for M/W/F and $200 for M-F.

* Remember to put your child’s name in the memo of the check and ONLY use envelopes for cash.

* Also, Our drop off policy is no earlier than 15 minutes before class begins (7:45 for mornings and 11:45 for afternoons).  Our teachers need time to prep the room and eat a quick lunch in between classes.

Thanks in advance. As always, if you have any questions or comments don’t hesitate to let me know. Thank you for letting us invest in your child!

God Bless,
